Description	:	Cecil Clinton Greenfield of Helena passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 15, 2008. At the time of his death, Cecil was under the loving care of the staff of the Cooney Home. Cecil was born Oct. 8, 1923, in Towner, Colo., to William Sylvester and Alta Frances Greenfield. He received his education in Montana and Colorado schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. At the time of his death, Cecil was under the loving care of the staff of the Cooney Home. Cecil was born Oct. 8, 1923, in Towner, Colo., to William Sylvester and Alta Frances Greenfield. He received his education in Montana and Colorado schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. In 1943, Cecil married Virginia Kathleen Brendel. They had a son and daughter and later divorced. On July 31, 1952, he was united in marriage to Norma Jean Marie Jochims in Miles City. They had one daughter. They lived in several Montana and Wyoming towns before moving to Helena in 1960. At the time of his death, Cecil and Norma Jean had been married 55 years. Cecil worked for the Vaughn & Ragsdale Clothing Company for 12 years, the last two in Helena. While working for Vaughn & Ragsdale, Cecil completed the LaSalle Correspondence Course in accounting, which prepared him to accomplish his goal of serving the state of Montana. He began work for the state of Montana Department of Livestock in 1962, retiring in 1985, after 23 years of service. Cecil loved the outdoors of Montana. He was a fisherman, hunter and avid gardener. He enjoyed sports of all kinds. He especially loved watching his grandchildren participate in basketball, volleyball and track as Capital High Bruins. He later became a Saints fan when his granddaughter played volleyball at Carroll College. Not only his grandchildren, but all their teammates, came to rely on the support of "Papa" in the stands. He was easily recognizable in his hat covered with sports buttons. He enjoyed many spirited discussions with his friend, Father Gene, about the "abilities" of the referees. Cecil's family was his greatest joy. Visits from his children and grandchildren who live out of state were anticipated and enjoyed. He had several lively visits from his daughter-in-law's parents from London. His family was spread across the country and the world. Cecil, along with Jeanie, inspired their children and grandchildren to be the best they could be. He came from humble beginnings, surviving the Depression with a drive to make a better life for his family. His legacy continues with nine great-grandchildren and four more on the way. Cecil is survived by his wife, Jeanie Greenfield; two daughters, Gayle (Mike) Agostinelli of Helena, and Vickie (Nick) Jensen of St. George, Utah; and one son, Gary (Carolyn) Greenfield of Naples, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Mike (Heather) Agostinelli, Amy (Chad) Swanson, Joanie (Nick) Garreffa, and Mary Agostinelli, Dominic (Stephanie) Greenfield, Allison (Brian) Vogt, Scott (Jennifer) Capser, Ron (Jenni) Capser, Nathan (Jessica) Valentine; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Sylvester and Alta Frances; his sisters, Lillis, Flossie, Geneva, Beulah, Geneviene and Lucile; and three brothers, David, Roscoe and LeRoy.
