Description	:	Cecil Cyrus Cushman, 84, of Shelton died Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Cecil was born Feb. 2, 1927, near Ericson to Henry A. and Charlotte (Morris) Cushman. Survivors are: wife of 59 years, Nelle Cushman of Shelton; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Vicki Cushman of Lee's Summit, Mo.; daughters and sons-in-law, Barb and Jim Loschen of Holdrege and Patsy and Randy Jarmin of Gibbon; sister, Willma Gosda of Grand Island; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Read More	Cecil Cyrus Cushman, 84, of Shelton died Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Cecil was born Feb. 2, 1927, near Ericson to Henry A. and Charlotte (Morris) Cushman. Survivors are: wife of 59 years, Nelle Cushman of Shelton; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Vicki Cushman of Lee's Summit, Mo.; daughters and sons-in-law, Barb and Jim Loschen of Holdrege and Patsy and Randy Jarmin of Gibbon; sister, Willma Gosda of Grand Island; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Cecil grew up and received his education in that area. He served in the US Army from 1950 to 1952, at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and in Korea, where attained the rank of Sgt. He and Nelle Fauvette West were married on June 6, 1952, in St. Joseph, Mo., and made their home north of Shelton. They moved to a farm north of Gibbon in 1969 and when he was 65, they retired to Burwell. In 2001, they moved to Shelton to be closer to family. He loved farming, growing crops and raising cattle for most of his life, and also worked as a fireman at the Cornhusker Ammunition Plant for over 10 years. When they moved to Shelton, he "farmed" his garden and yard for his last years. Throughout his life, he loved fishing, camping and Husker football. His parents, one brother and seven sisters preceded him in death. Military graveside services by the Shelton American Legion and National Guard Honor Team will follow at the Gibbon Riverside Cemetery, Gibbon, NE.
