Funeral services arc set for Thursday at 11 a.m. from the hope United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Ricbhoff officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. He was born in Ferguson July 28, 1915, the son of James and Vila Powers Speas. He married Maxine Banghart April 23, 1938 in Trenton, Mo. He married Maxine Banghart April 23, 1938 in Trenton, Mo. He was reared and educated in Ferguson and Liscomb and lived in Marshalltown for the past 53 years. He retired in 1978 from Marshalltown Instruments as a shipping and receiving clerk. A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy. Mr. Speas was a member of the Hope United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers. He is survived by his wife, Maxine; two sons, Gary Speas of Marshalltown and Tim Speas of Jefferson; five grandchildren; a sister, Avis (Mrs. Henry) Elliot of Liscomb; and two brothers, Dale Speas of Marshalltown and Wendell Speas of Mesa, Ariz. from Marshalltown IA newspaper Times Republican dated March 4 1991
