Born May 21, 1927 in Lexington County, Mr. Lucas was a son of the late Henry T. Lucas and Minnie V. Lucas. He was a loving husband and father to many. He cared for people, always helping and providing for others before considering himself. Cecil was taught the Bible from an early age. He was a man of honesty, patience, integrity, temperance, faith and most importantly, love. He followed his father's footsteps into construction and was very proud that he could "hang and lock a door" at the tender age of 12. His work as an apprentice grew in time and he became a true master of his craft. In 1950, along with his brother Donald, he established a home remodeling company, Cecil E. Lucas General Contractors. All of his brothers were in the home building industry. His work stands today throughout the greater Columbia area as a reminder of the quality life he led. He was a member of the Home Builders Association of Greater Columbia. A founding member of Dixiana Baptist Church, he was the oldest active member. He believed in the power of prayer and never ate a meal before thanking God. He was a former deacon and chairman of the Dixiana Building and Grounds Committee and was responsible for the building of the church. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy on October 20, 1944 and was a former member of Hidden Valley Country Club and the Ruritan Club. Surviving are his loving wife, Jody Lucas; son, Henry T. Lucas; daughter, Karen L. Ring; sons, Warren C. Lucas, Chris Lucas, Andy T. Lucas; stepdaughter, Cheryl Baker; stepson, Charlie Baker; stepdaughter, Angie Sutler; stepson, Phillip Brayboy; sister, Elaine Helms; brothers, J.H. Lucas, Donald Lucas and Wayne Lucas; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Thomas L.
