Description	:	Cecil "Corky" M. Ruemler died on August 19, 2012 at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City, ND. He was born September 26, 1931 to Walter and Anna (Davis) Ruemler. He was baptized into the Lutheran Faith at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Corky was born with developmental disabilities and the only service available, at that time, was institutionalization at Grafton State School, so Walt and Anna chose to keep their son in their home. Ruemler died on August 19, 2012 at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City, ND. He was born September 26, 1931 to Walter and Anna (Davis) Ruemler. He was baptized into the Lutheran Faith at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Corky was born with developmental disabilities and the only service available, at that time, was institutionalization at Grafton State School, so Walt and Anna chose to keep their son in their home. In 1959, Walt was one of the founders of the Open Door Center in Valley City. They provided day services to adults with developmental disabilities and Corky was one of the first people to participate in the program. He continued to attend this program and lived at home until he entered the Sheyenne Care Center in 2002. He was well known in the community as he made friends with his ready smile and wit. He walked and biked miles around town and had a keen interest in trains, planes, cars, and fire trucks. He often recalled people by the make, model and color of the car they drove. At the Care Center, he enjoyed Bingo, church, and musical activities. Corky was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his three younger sisters, Patricia (Richard) Laine of San Carlos, CA, Lois (Robert) Wold of Fargo, ND and LouVay (Jim) White of Valley City; four nephews, and a niece. The funeral service for Cecil "Corky" Ruemler, will be held at the Sheyenne Care Center Chapel on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery, Valley City, beside his parents.
