Cecil, son of Frank and Ada McFarland, was born in Boone county, Neb., near Albion, May 31, 1914 and departed this life Nov. 5, 1943. He grew to manhood here and in youth attended the Albion schools. September 19, 1940, he was married to Helen Gragert of St. Edward, and since that time has been employed by the Watson Motors garage in Albion. He was a faithful and trusted employee. Besides his wife he leaves to mourn his untimely death his mother, Mrs. Ada McFarland, who made her home with him and his wife. He also leaves one brother, Fay, of Albion; one sister, Mrs. Lyle Dowty of Albion; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. McFarland of Albion; four aunts, Mrs. J. Ogden, Mrs. R. W. Barnett, and Mrs. John Murphy, all of this city, and Mrs. Cora Froding of Norfolk; and four uncles, George Vogt of Ft. Collins, Colo., Fred Vogt of Norfolk, Mr. Gip Vogt of Newman Grove, and Alton McFarland of Albion. He will be missed not only by these loved ones, but by many friends and associates who share with them their sorrow. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. L. N. Blough. After the services the body was taken to the Smith Funeral home where it lay in state until Wednesday, awaiting the arrival of his brother, Fay McFarland, who came from Sac City, Iowa. Others who were delayed by the storm and unable to reach Albion in time for the funeral were Mrs. Cora Froding, Norfolk; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Dowty, Mrs. Clarence Dowty and Roy Dunn, of Grand Island. Burial services were held Wednesday morning, with the immediate family and a few close friends in attendance. Relatives and friends who came from a distance to attend the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Willard Dowty and son of Grand Island; George Vogt, Ft. Collins, Colo.; Gib Vogt, Newman Grove; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gragert and Arnold of Petersburg; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gragert of Petersburg; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Nelson and family of Columbus; Seaman 2nd Class and Mrs. Herman Gragert of St. Edward; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gragert and Betty of St. Edward.
