Description	:	Uncle Cecil was the son of William Henry Bowman and Martha Belle Torrey. He was born in the same Missouri county, Putnam, as his future wife Alta Jane Jones, and later they both lived in Woods County, Oklahoma. They were married 24 Oct 1911, in Alva, Oklahoma, per Uncle Cecil's obituary. They had one son, Kenneth, who died when he was only twenty-seven. They were married 24 Oct 1911, in Alva, Oklahoma, per Uncle Cecil's obituary. They had one son, Kenneth, who died when he was only twenty-seven. Cecil worked for railroads most of his life and the family moved from Oklahoma to Iowa, Texas, and northern California. He was a telegraph operator, but he had been a station agent for the Southern Pacific Railroad Company for at least twenty years. He was very kind to me when I was a child. and he just laughed when I called him "Cecil the Seasick Sea Serpent" after a character in my favorite television show. I thought he was really tall, because he towered over me when I was about six or seven, but his World War II Draft Registration Card says he was only 5'4" tall! Aunt Alta was a small lady, so it didn't matter.
