Description	:	Funeral services for Cecil R. Scott, age 79 of Mission, SD, will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 18, 2010 at the Bishop Harold Jones Building in Mission, SD. There will be a 1:00 PM caravan from the Casino to begin the wake on Wednesday. Burial at Trinity Episcopal Cemetery will follow the Thursday services. Cecil Roy Scott was born on December 31, 1930 to Arnold and Rose (Emery) Scott at Rosebud, South Dakota. He passed away on February 14, 2010 at the Rosebud Hospital in Rosebud, SD after a courageous battle with numerous health challenges. He attended elementary school at HeDog and Parmelee then Todd County High School. He worked as a ranchhand for his sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Frank Whipple; Brickley Cattle Company; and the Bill Jensen Ranch. He also worked at the Texaco Station; Rosebud Manufacturing; police officer at Rosebud and for the city of Mission; tribal judge for the Rosebud Sioux Tribe; prairie dog control programs with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Rosebud Sioux Tribe; and caretaker of the Antelope Senior Citizens 20-plex. He enlisted with the United States Marine Corps on February 25, 1952 and served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged from the service on February 25th, 1954. He was with Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Regimen, 1st Marine Division. He was awarded the Korean Service Ribbon with 2 stars, UN Service Medal, Purple Heart Medal, Combat Ribbon, National Defense Award and the Korean Service Medal. Cecil was proud to have served his country. He was also proud that all of his brothers served in the military. He served on the Southern Plains Mental Health Board representing Todd County; Elderly Concerns Board for the Rosebud Sioux Tribe; and Johnson O'Malley Board for Todd County School District. He was active in the Antelope Community serving as sergeant-at-arms and helping with the annual powwow. Cecil took great pride in his own ranch operation of cattle and horses. He truly enjoyed the ranch life. He was a member of the Rosebud Roping Club as a teamroper in both the heading and heeling. He also rode barebacks at local rodeos. He supported the sport of rodeo and took great pride in his children and grandchildren's accomplishments in the arena. He rarely missed a Professional Bull Riding (PBR) televised event. He loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed getting together with his children and friends to go fishing and hunt pheasant, grouse, deer and antelope. His knowledge of the land and hunting made him a respected hunter by many. Cecil is survived by his daughter Mary Scott of Mission; sons Mike Scott of Soldier Creek; Darrell Scott of Mission; Beaver Scott of Presho; stepson Jim Bromm of Hot Springs; stepdaughters Ida (Keith) Larvie of Mission; Kathy Blea and Valma Herman of Mission. He is also survived by his sister Louise Whipple of Martin; brother Arnold "Bud" Scott of Citrus Heights, CA; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Arbana; sister: Edith; brothers: Elmer; Joe; Richard; Robert; Clarence; George; his twin brother, Cyril; and stepdaughter, Marie Blea-Geis.
