Read More	Cecil "Swede" Adams, age 87, of Beach and Sentinel Butte, North Dakota, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the Glendive Medical Center in Glendive, Montana. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. on Monday, September 8, 2014 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sentinel Butte with Pastor Galen Strand officiating. Interment with military honors will be held in the Beach Lutheran Cemetery in Beach. Swede was born on January 25, 1927 in Lehigh, North Dakota, a son of William and Winnie (Holmberg) Adams. He was raised and educated in the Sentinel Butte area and following his education Swede enlisted in the United States Army on November 16, 1947. Following his honorable discharge from military service on November 6, 1948, he returned to the Sentinel Butte area where he worked for several years on numerous construction projects in Golden Valley County. During his time back home Swede met the love of his life, Laura Jean Myers. They were later married on August 6, 1949 at the Congregational Church in Beach, and to this union four children were born. Shortly thereafter Swede began working for the railroad, which he had continued doing for the next fifteen years. During that time, he also ranched in the Sentinel Butte area until he retired in 1994. Swede was undoubtedly a hard worker and he instilled that virtue in his children and all those that he knew. Following his retirement, Swede and Jean moved to Beach where they enjoyed being closer to some of their family and friends. Swede loved playing card games, board games, and especially Pinochle, Whist, Cribbage, and Aggravation. He also loved to travel in the summer months, and often made numerous trips to the lake. He loved his boat and especially loved taking his kids and grandkids out fishing. Throughout the years Swede was also very active in the community and had served on numerous committee boards, including past president for the Medora Grazing Association, Lutheran Brotherhood, member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and he was also a member of the American Legion. Family was very important to Swede, and loved spending as much time as he possibly could with them. He was very happy and proud to have recently celebrated his sixty-fifth wedding anniversary with his loving wife Jean. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Winnie; step-mother, Jenny; and two sisters, Avis Laguban and Evelyn Scheldrup. Swede is survived by his wife, Jean of Wibaux; four children, Cathy (Ron) Zook of Beach, Connie (John) Tate of Hunter, North Dakota, Jamey Adams of Medora, North Dakota, and John (Jane) Adams of Devils Lake, North Dakota; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
