Description	:	Cecil Brown Obituary Cecil Voight Brown, 75, of Faith, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family. Voight was born on June 7, 1940, in Rowan County, a son of the late Cecil Alexander and Mary Jeanette Peeler Brown. Voight was a 1959 graduate of Granite Quarry High School which was the last graduating class. Read More	Cecil Brown Obituary Cecil Voight Brown, 75, of Faith, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family. Voight was born on June 7, 1940, in Rowan County, a son of the late Cecil Alexander and Mary Jeanette Peeler Brown. Voight was a 1959 graduate of Granite Quarry High School which was the last graduating class. He obtained his Real Estate License, owned Piedmont Lightning Protection and had been the owner and operator of Brown Rentals for more than 40 years. Voight was a lifelong member of Shiloh Reformed Church, where he served on the Consistory several times and was an usher for as long as his health permitted. When Voight was a teenager he played on the Shiloh Baseball Team coached by Rev. Carpenter. He was a self-proclaimed “Movie Star,” having played a role in the movie “Murder in New Hampshire.” His love was his family and spending time with them at High Rock Lake and at the coast surf fishing. In addition to his parents, Voight was preceded in death by a son, Cecil “Dwayne” Brown; brother Eddie Brown; and brother-in-law Dean Martin. Voight is survived by his wife of more than 52 years, Betty “Faye” Martin Brown, who he married Dec. 22, 1962; son Darrin Scott Brown and wife Sharon of Salisbury; grandchildren Chase, Devynne and Will Brown; brother Tom Brown and wife Helen of Salisbury; sisters Kay Brown Ritchie and husband Ray and Cecilia Brown Knowles, both of China Grove; sisters-in-law Linda Brown, Gwen Rametta, Elaine Kluttz, Shirley Smith and Marlene Dunn; brothers-in-law Larry, Mike and Eddie Martin. Voight is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Peeler, Mr. and Mrs. JD Jackson and Mr. and Mrs. Tony Fox. Visitation: The family will receive friends Thursday, July 23 from 2–4 p.m. in the Shiloh Reformed Church Fireplace Lobby. Service: The funeral will be held Thursday, July 23 at 4 p.m. at Shiloh Reformed Church conducted by Rev. Richard Myers, pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Voight may be made to Shiloh Reformed Church, P.O. Box 308, Faith, NC 28041; or Rowan Hospice and Palliative Care, 720 Grove St., Salisbury, NC 28144. Powles Funeral Home is assisting the Brown family.
