His parents were Howard Mitchell and Maude Brannian Mitchell. He was a graduate of the Brooklyn High School. He served with the US Army from December 20, 1943, to April 11, 1946. Cecil was married to Hila Charlene Prichard on October 11, 1957, in Belle Plaine. Cecil was employed by TIP REC of Brooklyn for 30 years as a boom truck operator. Before that he worked as a truck driver for Junie Manatt. For the past two years he was a resident of Belle Plaine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Cecil was a member of the Brooklyn American Legion Post. He enjoyed playing cards, watching sporting events, especially when his children and grandchildren were involved, and the Hawkeyes. His parents; four brothers: Raymond, Irwin, Robert, and Ernest; a sister Luella Pfantz; and a granddaughter, Sonya Marie Hollar, preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Charlene; three sons: Trelys Mitchell and wife Peggy of Belle Plaine, Craig Mitchell and wife Cindy of Collins, Iowa, and Blaire "Butch" Mitchell and Betsy of Belle Plaine; two daughters, Larene Fisher and husband Mark of Newhall, Iowa and Beverly Hollar of Brooklyn; a brother Wallace Mitchell of Fairfield, California; a sister-in-law, Alma Mitchell of Buffalo Center, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
