Mrs. Decker has been suffering from a lingering illness for many years. Her condition reached a point beyond medical aid, and she succumbed to death." "CELESTA OWEN DECKER Celesta Owen Decker, daughter of Jehu and Sarah M. Baker Owen, was born in Jewell County, Kansas on August 31, 1889 and passed away at her home in Arapahoe, Nebraska, on December 23, 1958, following a year of illness. In 1911 she moved, with her parents, to Decatur County, Kansas. Here she was united in marriage to Walter E. Decker on March 1, 1919 at Oberlin. To this union was born one daughter, Vera Evelyn, who passed away on December 16, 1936, at the age of seven. In the spring of 1920 Mr. and Mrs. Decker moved to Wauneta, Nebraska, which was their home until 1944 when they moved to Arapahoe. Mrs. Decker is survived by her husband, one brother, Vinning Owen, of Oberlin, Kansas, one nephew and two nieces, and a host of other relatives and friends. Her only sister, Mrs. Louanna Burgess, passed away in California on November 13, 1950. As a child Mrs. Decker joined the Quaker church, of which she was a member until in 1947 when she transferred to the Arapahoe Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge No. 46. This appreciation was written by her fried, Mrs. Luther Morris: To Lesta- You've left your old clay house Where you've spend so many weary months of pain, To dwell forever in the Home beyond, Where sickness is unknown. A host of friends will miss you, Your Cheery words, you loving smile, Yet through our tears we'll say "Thy Will be done," we'll meet again some day. Funeral services were held at the First Methodist Church Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Arapahoe. Rev. Shepard officiated at the services, with burial made at the Riverside Cemetery at Wauneta."
