Description	:	Funeral services for Celeste Adelaide Hand were conducted at Deep Creek Lutheran Church, Kirley, Saturday, Feb. 15 at 2 pm with the Rev. Timothy Strommen officiating. Mrs. Hand passed away unexpectedly Feb. 12 at the St. Mary's Hospital, Pierre following a heart attack. Music for the service was provided by Mrs. Carmen Alleman, organist, who accompanied Mrs. Dorothy Paulson and Mrs. Judy Kirkpatrick with two selections. Active pallbearers were James Schanzenbach, Joe Fosheim, Curtis Bentley, Don Sandal, Vic Fosheim and Ivan Schanzenbach with all friends as honorary bearers. At the age of four, she moved with her family to Kirley, SD where her father homesteaded. Following her education in rural schools and graduation from Pierre High School, she attended college at Wessinton Springs Junior College and Black Hills State College. she then taught in rural schools in Central SD. She was married to Percy Hand on Dec 22, 1931 and since has lived on their ranch in Haakon County west of Hayes. For many years she was active as a 4-H worker, in extension clubs and many community activities. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughters, Mary Ahrendt, Onida, and Kathleen, Kennewick, WA: sons Tom and wife Lani, and David and wife, Laura , all of Midland: one grandaughter and eight grandsons: two sisters Dorothy Boysen, Pierre and Bertha Neuhauser, Kirley: one brother Ernest, Sequim, WA: many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her mother and father, two sisters and three brothers.
