She was born Oct. 27, 1908, northwest of Valley Falls, the daughter of William Isaac and Nancy Catherine Lyons Ferrell. She graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1927. Mrs Cain worked as a certified nurse assistant at Village Villa from 1971 to 1985 and at Jefferson County Geriatric Center in Winchester from 1969 to 1971. She was born Oct. 27, 1908, northwest of Valley Falls, the daughter of William Isaac and Nancy Catherine Lyons Ferrell. She graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1927. Mrs Cain worked as a certified nurse assistant at Village Villa from 1971 to 1985 and at Jefferson County Geriatric Center in Winchester from 1969 to 1971. She taught in several schools in the Valley Falls area and was a substitute teacher in Medford, Wis., from 1959 to 1971. She worked for a year at the Hercules Power Plant at DeSoto during World War II. She attended the former Gragg Chapel Church west of Valley Falls. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge 652, the Ladies Auxiliary of Grahem-Herbers Post 3084, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Senior Citizens, the YWCA and Kanza Club, all of Valley Falls. She was a 50-year member of Chapter 399, Order of the Eastern Star at Meriden. She married Arthur Benson Cain on April 20, 1929, at Holton. He died Jan. 11, 1968. Survivors include a son, Alton Cain and wife Marilyn, Medford, Wis.; two daughters, Artith Todd, Valley Falls, and Avis Figgs and husband Tim, Hoyt; three nephews; five nieces; nine grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held July 7 at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial was in Valley Falls Cemetery. Memorials to Jefferson County Hospice or to Jefferson County EMS, District 11, at Valley Falls, c/o Mercer Funeral Home, Valley Falls.
