Read More	Obituary Chandler Hezekiah Bull was born December 4, 1906 in Scotland County near Brock, the third and last child of Ernest Guy and Myrtle Emily Eggleston Bull, on the farm where he spent his entire life until illness necessitated him entering the Scotland County Nursing Home on September 4, 1986 where he departed this life on September 18, 1987. Chan attended grade school at Brock, his first year being taught by his sister Abbie Mae Bull, graduated eighth grade there and attended high school in Memphis. He joined his father and brother Buford in a farming-livestock partnership where they farmed the land that Chan’s grandfather, Hezekiah Bull, homesteaded in 1850-part of which Chan still owns. At the end of this partnership, Chan and his son Stanley continued the farming operation until ill health prevented Chan from working. At this time his grandson, Ched was included in the operation. On December 25, 1926 he was united in marriage with Velma Henrietta Dieterich, daughter of Frederick and Eliza Mohr Dieterich. To this union four children were born: Gwendolyn Jean who was still born on Oct. 27, 1928 and is buried in the Brock Cemetery, Stanley Duane who was born 1931 and twin daughters Carolyn Bull Hinds, wife of D. L. Hinds and Marilyn Bull Cowell, wife of Leon (Blackie) Cowell. Velma passed away shortly after the birth of the twins on Nov. 15, 1934. All of his children live near Memphis on farms. Chan and the children lived with his parents until Match of 1942 when on March 14th of that year he was united in marriage to Olive May Hocking, daughter of Dora O. and John R. Hocking of Gorin. Chan and Olive are the proud grandparents of nine grandchildren: Deborah and David Burns, Pulaski, Ia., Ginger and Cole Anderson of St. Johns, Ka., Ched and Jeannie Bull of Memphis, Jeff and Terri Hinds, Jed Hinds, Jan and Doug Meeks, all of Memphis; Ranee and Landon McClellan of Kirksville; Kena and Bill Hirner of Palmyra; and Jim Cowell of Houston, Texas. One grandchild, Jodie Marilyn Hinds preceded him in death. Also proud great-grandparents of Brad, Matt, and Tammy Burns, Heather and Nathan Plenge, Abbi and John Thomas McClellan, Mikaela and Joe Leon Hirner, Ashley and Brock Meeks, Jeremiah Hinds and Afton and Amber Bull, all of whom he adored and they in turn adored him, Chan was always a most devoted father, husband and grandfather and placed the well-being of his family above anything else in his life. Chan was preceded in death by his daughter, Gwendolyn Jean, his first wife Ve.ma, his father E.G., mother Mertie, brother Buford, and sister Abbie. Chan has been an active community worker, having been a past Mason, School and Church Board member for years, worked for and with the Scotland County Fair Board along with many other activities. He was always interested in people and promoting anything which he felt was for the good of others. He was loved by his neighbors as he was always willing to lend a helping hand and to lend anything that he owned. He will be sadly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Jean Miller, who made her home with Chan and Olive for the past several years, and another devoted sister-in-law, Phoebe Bull, who has always been more like a sister. The many, many friends and neighbors will miss his ready smile and good humored pranks. Services for Chandler H. Bull were held Monday, September 21, 2 p.m. from the United Methodist Church. Bruce Jeffries and Rev. Donna Miller officiated. The pianist was Ann Luther and the vocalists were Joan Goosey and Dani Fromm. Body bearers were: Tim Cowell, Jeff Hinds, Brad Burns, Ched Bull, Jed Hinds, and Matt Burns. Honorary bearers were: Marion Daggs, Willard Mohr, Basil Humphrey, Lonel Henderson, L.J. McClellan, Charles Seamster, Robert W. Shelley, Usa Bissell, Lee Aylward, Milo Morgan, Frank Reed, P.C. Hinds, and Roy Hyde. Burial was in Brock Cemetery.
