Description	:	Char J. Hetland, 58, Bismarck, died June 22, 2002, at her home following an extended illness. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Methodist Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Joel Winckler officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck, and will continue one hour before services at the church on Tuesday. Char was born Oct. 16, 1943, at Zap to Oscar and Irene (Allmendinger) Grossman. The family moved to Bismarck in 1948. Char graduated from Bismarck High School and attended what was then Bismarck Junior College. On Jan. 12, 1963, she married Larry Hetland, with whom she had two children. Char and her husband later divorced. While living in Mandan, Char was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone. In 1965 she moved to Valley City. Eight years later she relocated to Fargo. She worked for Qwest Communications during those years. She returned home to Bismarck in 1994 and retired from her career within the telecommunication industry in December 2001. Char enjoyed travel, but most of all she enjoyed being in the company of her family and friends. Survivors include her son, Darren, West Fargo; her daughter, Kristi, Lincoln, Neb.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucy and John Page, Fargo, and Carol and Allen Clark, San Antonio, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents. Memorials may be directed to Medcenter One Hospice of Bismarck.
