Chuck was born on September 16, 1931, in Bryant, South Dakota, to Raymond and Hilma Kant. The family moved to Sioux Falls at age 2. He attended Franklin and Whittier schools and graduated from Washington High School in 1949. He married Norma Eidenshink on October 20, 1951, and they were blessed with seven children. Chuck worked at Dairyland, Crescent and Foremost Dairies from 1949 to 1974. He then continued as an independent milk delivery man until 1988. At age 57 he started a lawn business for the next 20 years with the help of several grandsons, and relied on grandson, Matt, when he could no longer maintain his own lawn. Some of his customers became his friends and they all appreciated his attention to detail. His work ethic and integrity was passed down to his children. Chuck enjoyed hunting ducks and geese, and fishing, especially ice fishing which consumed the long winters. He especially enjoyed fishing with good friend and neighbor, Russ McFarlane. He also enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Cubs, Twins and Dodgers. He also followed the UCONN women's basketball team on TV and enjoyed watching Jeopardy twice a day for many years. Grateful for sharing his life are children, Peggy Savage, Sioux Falls, SD, Sandy Murray, Lawrence, KS, Steve (Stella) Kant, Wentworth, SD, Tim (Jamie) Kant, Sioux Falls, SD, Mary (Tom) Wingert, Sioux Falls, SD, and Kathy (Michael) Nelson, Renner, SD. He is also survived by an extended family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. He was predeceased by his wife, Norma; his parents; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon (Michael) Schuldt; a sister, Merlyn Swanson; and brothers, Maynard, Curtis and Gary Kant. - George Boom Funeral Home
