Funeral services will be held in the home at 626 North East street at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Burial will be in the city cemetery. Charles Perkins was born Oct. 3, 1867, at Bellevue, and spent his boyhood and young manhood in the neighborhood of Scotch Grove. In 1880 he came to Scranton and in 1887 moved to Carroll, where he has since made his home with the exception of a three year residence in Davenport and one year in Indianola. Mr. Perkins was married to Harriett Willey of Carroll, who with their only child, Miss Marie Perkins, survives. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Ella Dawson of Sioux City, and a brother, John Perkins, of Churdan. In 1893 Mr. Perkins joined Carroll lodge, No. 279, I.O.O.F. and later Ellsworth Encampment, No. 72. He was also a member of the Modern Woodmen of America. Men who knew "Charlie" Perkins, as they familiarly called him, during his 20 years of employment with the Standard Oil company and his 10 years with the Swaney Auto company, appreciated his reliable and painstaking workmanship. They often said they spent more time at the oil station than they should just to enjoy the unusual comments and the charm of Mr. Perkins droll and unassuming manner. He had the capacity for being a real friend. Among Mr. Perkins friends none will miss him more than Ben Smith, his cousin and lifelong companion.
