Mass of the Christian Burial was to be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 3, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church with the Rev. Bill Bruning officiating. Bob Welch was organist and music included "Be Not Afraid," "Prayer of St. Francis," "Our Father," "Gentle Woman" and "How Great Thou Art." Burial was in the St. Gregory's Cemetery. A rosary was at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Visitation was 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Kinsley Mortuary. Pallbearers were grandsons James Banahan, Ryan Banahan, Scott Gooderl, Anthony Ring, Brandon Ruud Steven Wilson. Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren Deborah Gooderl, Deana Ruud, Marisa Ring, Elisabeth Ring, Alicia Ring, Allison Corley, Tyler Corley, Gregory Thelen, Victoria Thelen, Philip Thelen, Zachary Ring, Jacob Ring, Rachel Allen and Lillian Allen. He was born January 9, 1926, in the family home east of Marysville, the son of Dominic and Lillian Schwindamann Ring. He was educated at St. Gregory's Chatholic School for eight years and was a graduate of Marysville High School in 1943. He married Virginia Zumbahlen June 1, 1948, at St. Gregory's Church. He was a member of the 76th Infantry Division of the Army from 1943 through 1946 in the European Theatre and was wounded at Bastogne, France, during the Battle of the Bulge. Hew was awarded in Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He returned home to farm and was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad in the celerical department for 39 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the UP Employer Club and the Transportation Communication Union. He belonged to the American Legion, and had served as the post commander for the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a life-long member of St. Gregory's Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the St. Gregory's School Board for several terms. He also served on the former Lily Creek School Board. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife, Virginia of the home; 11 children, Barbara Wilson, Mayetta; Dominic Ring, Omaha, Neb; Janet Turney and Kathleen Blanton, Jacksonville, Ark.; Charles Ring Jr., Oketo; Michael ring, Marysville, Ks.; Mary Banahan, Steele City, Neb.; Elizabeth Thelen, Fargo, N.D.; Christine Corley, Arnold, Mo.; Douglas Ring, San Antonio, Texas; and Stashia Allen, La Grange, Ky.; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Carolny Barton, Gower, Mo.; Eleanor Grauer, Blanche Doyle, and Dorothy Martin, of Marysville, Ks.
