Description	:	Charles A., son of Robert and Frances Cole Allison, was born January 2, 1877, at Clinton, Iowa. He departed his life Wednesday, August 7, 1946 at 1:30 p. m, in the Sioux Valley hospital at Cherokee aged 68 years, months, 5 days. When about the ago of 7 his parents moved to Newell neighborhood and settled on a farm in Douglas Township, Sac County. He departed his life Wednesday, August 7, 1946 at 1:30 p. m, in the Sioux Valley hospital at Cherokee aged 68 years, months, 5 days. When about the ago of 7 his parents moved to Newell neighborhood and settled on a farm in Douglas Township, Sac County. Here he grew to manhood, passing through the grade school in Douglas No. 2 and finishing at Newell high school. On December 19, 1900, he and Julia Fay Smith were united in marriage. For several years he worked in a creamery, then located north of Newell, spent some time in farming and in 1917 was appointed custodian of the Newell schools, in which capacity he served almost thirty years, without interruption and only his untimely death closed his career in that office. His wife passed on in April, 1944. One child died in infancy. Surviving are two sons and three daughters; Wayne and Fern (Mrs. Marion Foster) of Sac City; Lucille (Mrs. Earl Larimer) and Clifford, both of Newell; Ellen (Mrs. Alfred Baker) of Fort Dodge. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Edna Harrisson of Wichita, Kansas, and Mrs. Ella Lawrence of Los Angeles, California, Two brothers, Roy, of Wichita, Kansas, and Arthur of Whltticr, California. There are also thirteen grandchildren. In early youth Charles was received into the fellowship of the First Methodist church In Newell. His relation to that congregation has been maintained unbroken throughout the years. In addition to his school activity he had enthusiastically participated in the several fraternal circles of the community. The Knights of Pythias and Modern Woodmen of America, before they suspended local activity, and the Volunteer fire department, claimed his attention in previous years and the Independent Order Odd Fellows and Masonic Lodge In Newell, afforded him active fellowship until his passing His major interest in life outside of his quest for a livelihood was in quest of nature's beauty. He became a recognized authority in the field of Gladiola and floral production. Throughout the years he has consistently earned the purple, blue, red, and white ribbons in the annual exhibitions. He was an ardent member of the Iowa State and Sioux City Gladiola Societies and was enroute to the annual exhibition of the latter when disaster overtook his car and he died as a result of the accident.
