Elder, father of Mrs. Walter Appleget of Delta, who died March 12 at Farmington, was held on March 15 at the Farmington Baptist church, with the Rev. Mr. Kelley in charge. Burial was in Adams cemetery near Ash Grove. Mr. Elder was a former Keokuk county resident, moving to Farmington 11 years ago. He was born January 6, 1887 in Davis county, the eldest son of Benjamin and Mary Tharp Elder and spent his boyhood in the Ash Grove community. On September 16, 1908, he was married to Lizzie Adams and they became the parents of 10 children. Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Walter Appleget of Delta, Mrs. William Denney and Mrs. Richard Hamner of Davenport; six sons, Bennie and Claude of Kahoka, Missouri, Ralph of Blakesburg, Floyd at home, Pvt. Richard of Fort Riley, Kansas, and Pfc. Kenneth Elder of Fort Hood, Texas; 25 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also living are two brothers, Earl of Council Bluffs and Harvey of Mount Pleasant and two sisters, Florence Morrison of Davenport and Mrs. Ivah Cassill of Drakesville.
