There are 265 acres in the Kelley farm, 240 being enclosed and cultivated, with 80 acres in grass. The soil is black loam, level in surface, producing good crops of grass, corn, and oats. Mr. Kelley raises horses, cattle, and hogs, having 20 head of Norman horses, 70 head high grade Durham cattle, and 60 Poland-China hogs. Kelley Rites Held Wednesday Was Born In Ward Twp. In 1859; Burial Made In Cox Cemetery Funeral services for Charles A. Kelley who passed away July 28, were held from the Webster Funeral home Wednesday, July 30 at 2:00 p. m. with the Rev. Lloyd Latta officiating. Emil Rinderspacher accompanied by Mrs. Robert Westfall sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "No Night There." Pallbearers were Oscar Patterson, Tom Patterson, John Mullen, W. B. Teller, Roy Edwards and Lon Farley. Burial was in the Cox cemetery. Charles Albert Kelley, son of Joseph and Harriet Kelley, was born in Ward township June 29, 1859 and departed this life July 29, 1947 at his home in Osceola, Iowa, which he and his sister had shared at the age of 88 years and 29 days. When Charles was 11 years old he lost his father so it was his task to help his mother raise her family of six younger children. He spent his boyhood in Clarke county. He lived for 32 years in Colorado before returning to Osceola to make his home. He was a man of many virtues and in his quiet unassuming way was always ready to lend a helping hand to his many friends and loved ones. In spite of his frail health he was truly a devoted, brother and will be greatly missed in the home. He confessed Christ at a very early age and was a member of the Methodist church and held steadfast to that faith He leaves to mourn his death, one brother, Frank Kelley of Bryant, Iowa, one sister, Lettie of the home, besides other relatives and a host of friends,
