A Celebration of Life Service will be on Saturday, January 13 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Christian Church in Bridgewater. The son of Charles and Muriel (McKinney) Brown, he was born October 11, 1933 in St. Louis Park, Minnesota and was married to Nadine McKee on May 23, 1954 at the First Christian Church in Massena. Read More	Charles Alfred Brown Jr., 84, of Jacksonville, Florida, formally of Massena, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017 after a battle with Alzheimer's at the Taylor Center in Jacksonville. The son of Charles and Muriel (McKinney) Brown, he was born October 11, 1933 in St. Louis Park, Minnesota and was married to Nadine McKee on May 23, 1954 at the First Christian Church in Massena. Nadine passed away on November 10, 1978. Growing up, Charles spent summers in Massena, staying with his aunt and uncle. That is where he met Nadine. He spent time in the Army and then settled in the Bridgewater and Massena areas farming until after Nadine's passing. He then moved to Florida to be near his parents. He returned to Massena in 1988, and resided in the area until he moved to Jacksonville, Florida with his son Steven and family where he had been for the last five years. Before the onset of Alzheimer's, Charles enjoyed playing cards, cribbage, going to the Meal Site in Greenfield, and hanging with friends at the Main Street Bar in Massena. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nadine, his son Timothy Lee, his great-granddaughter Makenzie Steffens, his sisters Judy Koopman and Bette Goedtke, sister-in-law Barb Huss, and brother-in-law Larry Ryan. Surviving are his children, Charles Brown III of Anita, Steven (Jeannie) Brown of Jacksonville, Florida, and Julie (Todd) Steffens of Greeley, Colorado; his grandchildren, Sarah and Steven Brown of Jacksonville, Jacob Steffens of Denver, Colorado, and Dylan and Kelsey Steffens of Greeley, Colorado; his brothers-in-law, Del Koopman of Fulda, Minnesota, Eldon Goedtke of Jacksonville, Florida, and Jack (Mary Ann) McKee of Massena; and sisters-in-law, Karen (Gary) Bissell and Jean Ryan of Atlantic; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
