Description	:	Charles Eggleston and early day resident of Hurley Township and one of Turner County's well known and esteemed citizens passed away at the home of his son Harley on Sunday. Death came as he sat in a rocking chair talking to the members of his family and friends. Earlier this month he went to his son's home and was lovingly cared for there during his last short illness. Read More	Charles Eggleston and early day resident of Hurley Township and one of Turner County's well known and esteemed citizens passed away at the home of his son Harley on Sunday. Death came as he sat in a rocking chair talking to the members of his family and friends. Earlier this month he went to his son's home and was lovingly cared for there during his last short illness. Charles Eggleston was a pioneer settler and for many years farmed in the Bremer community south of Parker. The community was named Bremer after Bremer County, Iowa, from which place many early settlers came to the vicinity south of Parker. Charles Anthony Eggleston was born Aug. 18, 1856 near Albany, NY. At the age of eight he moved with his parents to Illinois and settled near Rockford. Two years later they moved to Shellrock, Iowa, where he made his home with his parents until the spring of 1882, when he came to Turner County and purchased some land six miles south of Parker, and upon which he lived until moving to Parker some 21 years ago. On April 18, 1882 he was united in marriage with Miss Ella Brown of Parker community, and to this union two children were born, Louie A., now of Harvey, ND and Ruth, who passed beyond in 1916. Pioneer years passed rapidly until in February, 1889 Mrs. Eggleston, after a brief illness was taken from him. On July 12, 1891 he was united in marriage to Miss Roseina Thomas at Rewey, WI. To this union three sons and one daughter were born; Earl of Alcester, SD; Harley and Alva of Parker and Mrs. Jake Feenstra, also of Parker. They resided on the old homestead until 1919, when they moved into Parker. He has resided here since that time. Mrs. Eggleston's death occurred on Jan. 6, 1933. Left to mourn his death are three sisters, one brother, one daughter, three sons, 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
