Shoemaker began life here on earth September 13, 1903, and passed away at his home near Fairmont, March 16, 1947, at the age of 43 years, 6 months and 3 days. An affliction at birth, caused his body never to develop naturally, but his mind was clear. He understood clearly and his parents were always able to understand his wants. Read More	Charles Arlo Shoemaker, son of Charles R. and Clara F. Shoemaker began life here on earth September 13, 1903, and passed away at his home near Fairmont, March 16, 1947, at the age of 43 years, 6 months and 3 days. An affliction at birth, caused his body never to develop naturally, but his mind was clear. He understood clearly and his parents were always able to understand his wants. He made known to them his needs and wishes. He was always appreciative of little courtesies and gifts given him. His eyes would express his thankfulness. His schooling was the schooling of his home by his devoted parents. Up until his last breath, he recognized his friends as they came to visit him. When seven years of age, his parents dedicated him to God, Rev. DeWolf, then pastor of the Methodist Church in Fairmont, baptizing him in the home. He leaves in passing his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Shoemaker; three aunts, Mrs. W. E. Black and Miss Zola Shoemaker of Fairmont; and Mrs. C. W. Rudsil of Broadwater; three uncles, E. S. Bair of Conova Park, Calif., E. M. Bair of Lincoln; and A. R. Shoemaker of Broadwater. While always a care to his parents, Arlo was always appreciative. He sought to lighten the burdens of care by his thankfulness. Even in his last illness, he was patient. Funeral services were held in the Kritner Funeral Home, Wednesday afternoon, March 19, at 2:30 o'clock, with Rev. Robert L. Embree of Friend and Rev. L. A. Fishel officiating. Oliver Moul sang, with Mrs. A. A. Ashby at the piano. Interment in the Fairmont Cemetery. Pallbearers were Arthur Guthrie, Frank Fiedler, George White, Sidney Atwood Sr., T. W. Roper and Harry Mills.
