Read More	Former Fontanelle Man Died at Houston, Texas (keep in mind some of the facts/dates are incorrect in these obituaries) The death of Charles Armstrong, formerly of Fontanelle, occurred on Monday, February 5 (truth 6), 1922, in a small town near Houston, Texas, where he has been the past two years. His death was caused by pneumonia, and he was sick but a short time. Word was received of his illness here last week and a brother who lives in Missouri stated immediately for Houston, but found his brother dead when he arrived there. The body arrived at Anita on Monday evening and funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon in the Eureka Center church ten miles northwest of Fontanelle. The service was in charge of Anita Lodge No. 262, I.O.O.F. of which Mr. Armstrong was a member.The sermon by a minister from Anita. The body was laid to rest in the cemetery near the church. Charles Armstrong was born in County Fermanagh, Ireland, 1 June, 1851, and died 7 (truth 6) February, 1922 near Houston, Texas at the age of 69 (truth 70) years, 8 months, and 5 days. He came to America in 1870, locating at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he lived until 1880 when he came to Adair County, and engaged in farming, which vocation he followed for a number of years, afterwards engaging in the deep well drilling business. Many of these wells put down by Mr. Armstrong throughout Cass County have stood the test and are still providing supply of water sufficient for all demands. Mr. Armstrong put down Anita's deep well many years ago, which, notwithstanding its inexhaustible supply of water, had to be abandoned, on account of being unfit for use, except for fire purposes. For a time he was engaged in the real estate business in Anita, and twelve years ago moved to Texas, where he had extensive land interests. At the time of his death, he was superintendent of a large stock ranch near Houston; a position he had held for several years past. Mr. Armstrong was the oldest of a family of ten (truth nine)children; six boys and four girls. He was never married. His surviving relatives are five brothers and one sister; James Armstrong, of Eldorado Springs, Missouri, William H. Armstrong, of Wiota vicinity, Robert, Thomas, and Adam Armstrong of the Fontanelle vicinity, and Mrs. Bell Lovell of Washington state. Contributor: JSC
