Description	:	Charles August Salberg died at his home in Spring Creel township last Friday afternoon, November 13, following an illness of about four months duration. News of his passing came as a shock to many of the people here who did not know that he had been ailing. He was 66 years, 4 months and 29 days old when the final summons came to him. Read More	Charles August Salberg died at his home in Spring Creel township last Friday afternoon, November 13, following an illness of about four months duration. News of his passing came as a shock to many of the people here who did not know that he had been ailing. He was 66 years, 4 months and 29 days old when the final summons came to him. Deceased was born at Bergslags, Harken, Sweden on April 4, 1876, and when he was a boy seven years of age, in the year 1882, came to the United States with his parents. The family first located in Chicago and remained in that city for about two years and then came to this part of North Dakota, then still a portion of Dakota Territory. A homestead was taken in Spring Creek township which became the family home where Charles grew to manhood. When he was 14 years old he was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in the North LaMoure church by Rev. Anderson. On November 1, 1905, he was united in marriage to Miss Clara Kulsrud, after which the couple moved to his farm in section 32, Spring Creek, which has been their home ever since. Ten children were born to this union, of whom nine are living. They are Clarence of Litchville; Mrs. Olaf Knutson (Clara), of Kathryn; Fred, in the U. S. Army in Hawaii; Elmer, at home; Mrs. Edwin Bergseth (Myrtle) of Kathryn; Mrs. Leslie Jorgenson (Eleanor), of Kathryn; Mrs. Alfred Haugen (Anna), Litchville; Vernon, at home, and Mrs. Floyd E. Olson (Murlin), LItchville. Surviving also are two brothers, Oscar and Emil, Litchville, one sister, Mrs. John Olson, of Kathryn, and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Hastings church on Tuesday afternoon, with the Rev. J. E. Lee officiating. Mrs. O. R.Mahlum, soloist sang three hymns, "Abide With Me," "No Night There," and "Beautiful Savior." There were beautiful floral offerings and gifts to missions in memory of the deceased. C. T. Peterson, John Wenneson, Peter Twiet, Andrew Bergan, Oliver Olson and Albert Sonsthagen were the pallbearers and he was buried in Spring Creek Cemetery. Mr. Salberg served as township assessor for 37 years and as clerk of the school district for 35 years. The hand of sympathy is extended to the sorrowing widow, the children and other relatives.
