The influenza is responsible for the death of two more citizens the past week. Chas. A. Fox and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Nancy Brender died with-in a few days of each other. Mr. Fox died on Friday morning last and was buried in the Leavenworth cemetery on Saturday, followed to the grave by a large concourse of friends and neighbors. Commissioner Hickey and Road Supervisor Parish came up from Cashmere to attend the funeral. Few men in his community enjoyed a wider circle of friends than Charley Fox. He came here in 1903 from Indiana and was married to Miss Cora Brender in 1906. To them was born Howard Fox, aged nine years. Mrs. Nancy E. Brender, mother of Mrs. Fox died Monday last and was laid to rest on Tuesday beside Mr. Fox. Mrs. Brender was 76 years old. She came here in 1899 from Kansas and settled on the place where she died, on and a half miles east of Leavenworth. For a number of years she had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Fox. She is survived by three daughters and two sons. Mrs. Ida Wasson of Clarkson, Wash., Mrs. Mary Shadd, Seattle, and Mrs. Chas. Fox, Geo. Brender whose whereabouts are unknown and John S. Brender connected with the local forestry department. Mrs. Brender had many friends and was universally esteemed by all who knew her. Mrs. Fox and son who have been quite sick are reported to be recovering.
