Forman was last Saturday morning found dead in his pasture a short distance from his home 3 1/2 miles southwest of Plevna. He got up that morning in his usual health, ate a hearty breakfast and went out to the pasture to milk the cows. He remained longer than usual and his wife, becoming uneasy, went out in search of him and found him dead. He was lying on his back with a cup held tightly in one of his hands. Heart trouble is the supposed cause of his death. He and wife lived alone on the farm. The remains were buried on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the King graveyard under the auspices of the G.A.R. Mr. Forman was a son of the late Capt. Joe Forman. He was 68 years old Aug. 15 last, and had been a resident of Shelby county all his life. He leaves a wife and two sons, Amos A. [Amos B.] and Joseph H. Mr. Forman was a quiet, inoffensive man and a good citizen. The burial was largely attended. Civil War service information as per contributor Michelle Pendleton: On 4 Sept 1862 in Rolla, Phelps County, Missouri; Charles was a Volunteer Enlistment into the Union Army age 24 as a Pvt. into the 3rd Regt. Missouri Calvary and placed into Company K. Enlisted for three years. A full description of him was made at time of Enlistment: Age 24, grey eyes, Light hair, light complexion and 6 ft. tall. He mustered-in (reported for duty)in Rolla, Missouri on 7 Dec 1862 and in March of 1862 was sent on detached service in pursuit of Brigadier General John S. Marmaduke. At Little Rock, Arkansas on 21 Mar 1865, due to reorganization, he was transferred from Co.K of the 3rd Regt. Missouri Calvary into the newly formed Co. B within the same Regt. On 14 June 1865 still in Little Rock, Arkansas he Mustered-out at the end of his term of enlistment service of three years. He was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic, George Miller Post.
