Pearson Funeral Well Know Man Passed Away on Thursday After An Illness of About Ten Days Charles B. Pearson, well know and well liked Adel man, passed away at his home on Thursday of last week, January 20th, following a short illness. While he had been a sufferer from a heart ailment for a number of years, his condition was not considered serious until ten days before his death when he suffered a stroke of paralysis, due to a blood clot. For a week he was critically ill and three days before he passed away pneumonia developed. This was the direct cause of his death. Funeral services, which were largely attended, were held at the Christian church Saturday afternoon. Rev. H. M. Sippel was in charge, with the musical program given by a quartet composed of A. B. Carter, Mr. and Mrs. Llewellyn and Mrs. John Carter, of Waukee. Six brothers of Mr. Pearson acted as pall bearers. Interment was in the cemetery at Waukee. At the services Rev Sippel read the following brief life story of a man who was highly respected by all who knew him and who will be much missed by those closely associated with him. Obituary Charles Bennett Pearson was born on a farm near Chatsworth, IL., March 6, 1869 and departed this life at his home in Adel, Iowa, on Jan. 20, 1938 at the age of 68 years, 10 months and 14 days. He spent his boyhood days on a farm operated by his mother, until he was united in marriage to Lillie Albee on January 14, 1891. To this union three children were born, Leroy of Waukee; Bernice, who died at the age of three years and Arthur of Dallas Center. He leaves besides his wife and two sons, six grandchildren, seven brothers: Fred of Fairmount, Nebr.: William of Adel: Elmer and Edwin of Chatsworth, IL. Fillmore of Pleasanton, Kan.: Arthur of Normal, Il., and Ira of Joliet, Il.; two sisters, Ada Felt of Pasadena, Cal., Cora Dann of Ankeny, Iowa and one half sister, Sarah Swartz, of North Platte, Nebr. He was one of a large family consisting of 14 brothers and sisters and 7 half brothers and sisters. He was a man who was always active and conscientious and his greatest pleasure was in his work on the farms operated by his two sons. He never knew a sick day until about 12 years ago when he suffered a heart attack and since that time he has been in failing health. He was a kind and affectionate husband and a true and loyal father which shall always be remembered and a friend to all who knew him. Printed in the Dallas County News 01-26-1938
