Read More	Charles Carr Bergeman February 14, 1914 ~ May 5, 2014 Charles Carr Bergeman died Monday, May 5, 2014, at Wenatchee and was born at Steveville, Alberta, Canada on February 14, 1914, the third of three sons to Isabelle (Carr) and John W. Bergeman, who passed away when Charles was seven years old. Isabelle married Colbert Templin and had two daughters, Faye and Cleo Templin. The family left Canada for the U.S. and settled in St. Ignatius, MT in December 1926. They moved to Wenatchee, WA in 1932, where Charles graduated from the Wenatchee High School in 1933. Charles worked in the woods in Entiat and attended Barber School for two winters. In 1935, he started barbering in Leavenworth. He married Vera Crow from Waterville in 1936, and they had a son, John L. Bergeman in 1938, and a daughter, Linda L. Bergeman in 1941. He locked up the Barber Shop in 1941, and went to Portland, OR to work in the shipyards. In 1946, he returned to Leavenworth to his Barber Shop, where he was one of the first to remodel his building to the Bavarian theme. He lost his wife, Vera, in an auto accident in 1972. Charles married Yvonne Kelso Roth of Wenatchee on December 29, 1974, in Leavenworth. They lived in Cashmere for 13 years and then moved to Wenatchee in 1988. Charles and Yvonne spent five winter months each year in Florence, AZ for 26 years. Charles was a volunteer fireman for 18 years; a charter member of the Leavenworth Lions Club; and a member of the Zarthan Lodge No. 148 Masons. In 1958 and 1959, he was the Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce President; he joined the Leavenworth Golf Course in 1936, and was very active in the upkeep and play. Charles also joined the Winter Sports Club in 1946, and served as President and Secretary-Treasurer for 13 years. He also belonged to the Wenatchee Elks and the Eagles. Charles is survived by his wife, Yvonne of Wenatchee; son, John L. (Mary) Bergeman of Lebanon, OR; daughter, Linda (Gene) Smith of Seattle; one half-sister, Cleo House of Tacoma, WA; two stepchildren, Sandra (Kelso) Groves of Normal, IL and Richard (Jan) Kelso of Wenatchee; two grandsons, two step-grandsons and one step-granddaughter; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera; two older brothers, Jack Bergeman, killed at Grand Coulee Dam and Stanley Bergeman; and his half sister, Faye O'Bryant. A Funeral Service of Commemoration to celebrate the life of Charles Bergeman will be held on Friday, May 16, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, with Interment to follow at the Mt. View Cemetery in Leavenworth. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cascade Medical Center Foundation, in Charles' name, at 817 Commercial Street, Leavenworth, WA 98826. Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
