On August 24, 1918, Charles Engel, blue-eyed with light hair, of medium build and height, walked into the WWI Draft office for Bon Homme County, South Dakota. He was living in Avon, where he was born, and working for Otto Vogal. He was married to Rose (Hebner) Engel. He and Rose were blessed with three children: Maxine, Donald, and Nera June. On August 24, 1918, Charles Engel, blue-eyed with light hair, of medium build and height, walked into the WWI Draft office for Bon Homme County, South Dakota. He was living in Avon, where he was born, and working for Otto Vogal. He was married to Rose (Hebner) Engel. He and Rose were blessed with three children: Maxine, Donald, and Nera June. In 1940, the Engels were living at 936 Ninth Street in Fremont. Charles was working as a carpenter, Rose as a stenographer. Maxine was also working as a stenographer. All the Engels had been born in South Dakota, but since at least 1935 they had all been living at that home in Fremont. According to Nebraska Marriages, 1855-1995, there was a later marriage, on September 25, 1953 in Wayne, Nebraska between Charles, 55, and Valeria W. (Walling) Grove, 41. Charles died August 30, 1991, and was buried at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
