He had been ill for several months. Mr. Emanuel, who was also a farmer, was owner and operator of the Ottumwa Community Sales Co. at the end of Myrtle street for 20 years. Emanuel, 57, of Ottumwa route 6, a well-known Ottumwa auctioneer, died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Ottumwa hospital. He had been ill for several months. Mr. Emanuel, who was also a farmer, was owner and operator of the Ottumwa Community Sales Co. at the end of Myrtle street for 20 years. A son of Aaron and Gertie Harter Emanuel, he was born May 7, 1901 in Davis county. He had lived in Ottumwa for 21 years. He was a member of the Dunville Baptist church. He is survived by his wife Winifred; a son, Larvel Emanuel, of Azusa, Calif.,; a daughter, Linda Emanuel at home; two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Leah Pence of Bloomfield; and four brothers, Harold Emanuel of Storm Lake, Donald Emanuel of Des Moines, Verlin Emanuel of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Bernard Emanuel of Emporia, Kan. His parents preceded him in death. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Luthern church. The Rev. Paul M. Hann, D.D., pastor of the First Methodist church, and the Rev. LaVerne Morris, pastor of the Davis Street Christian church, will officiate. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. The casket will remain at the Johnson funeral chapel until late Tuesday afternoon, when it will be taken to the home on Ottumwa route 6. It will remain at the home until 11 a.m. Wednesday when it will be taken to the church and closed at the beginning of the service.
