He was born September 16, 1921, in Garfield Township, Ida County, near Ida Grove, Iowa, the son of Charles Orlando and Bessie Mae (Pendleton) Corbin Sr. He attended schools in Climbing Hill, Iowa, Battle Creek, Iowa, and Smithland. He was born September 16, 1921, in Garfield Township, Ida County, near Ida Grove, Iowa, the son of Charles Orlando and Bessie Mae (Pendleton) Corbin Sr. He attended schools in Climbing Hill, Iowa, Battle Creek, Iowa, and Smithland. He served in the army during World War II. On November 16, 1946, he married Ruth Elaine Denham at Sioux City, Iowa. He had been employed by Godberson and Smith Construction for 30 years and by the Wilson Trailer as a welder for 15 years. He retired in 1984. He was a member of Leslie F. Seaton American Legion Post # 666 in Smithland for over 50 years. He loved to fish and build various items. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Corbin of Smithland; one son, Timothy Lee Corbin of Smithland; a son- in – law, Lynn LeRoy Smith of Omaha; several nieces and nephews: and cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: a daughter, Linda Diane Smith: a sister, Ellen Hines: two infant brothers, Bobby and Billy; and one granddaughter, Amy Lynn Smith. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 2, 1999, at the United Methodist Church, Smithland, Iowa, with Pastor Karen Handke officiating. The organist was Mrs. Myron Armour and the soloist, Mr. Myron Armour, sang the selections, “God Understands " and "Someday He'll Make It Plain". Honorary Bearers were Calvin Servis, Bud McLarty, Clemence Claus and Kenneth Lounsbury. Casket Bearers were Morrell Corbin, Marty Corbin, Myron Corbin, Scott Masters, Tom Masters and Tim Oberreuter. Interment was in the Little Sioux Township Cemetery, Smithland, Iowa with Military Rites by Leslie F. Seaton American Legion Post #666, Smithland, Iowa. Arrangements were by Willman Funeral Home, Rodney, Iowa.
