Description	:	Charles D. Wiles (Chip), a lifetime resident of Skagit County, passed away on August 13, 2010. He was 62 years old, born March 18, 1948, to Burl and Verda Wiles. Chip was a graduate of Sedro Woolley High School and Western Washington State College. He leaves many close friends who will dearly miss him. Wiles (Chip), a lifetime resident of Skagit County, passed away on August 13, 2010. He was 62 years old, born March 18, 1948, to Burl and Verda Wiles. Chip was a graduate of Sedro Woolley High School and Western Washington State College. He leaves many close friends who will dearly miss him. As a young man, Chip's working life began in the woods and logging industry. It was an exciting time and provided many logging stories he shared for years. Following college Chip worked for the USDA for three years at National Fruit Canning Company, now known as National Frozen Foods Corporation. In 1975 he joined National as Quality Control Manager. His career spanned 27 years; 9 years serving as General Manager until the Burlington facility closed in 2000. He genuinely enjoyed the agricultural industry and the relationships developed with employees, growers and suppliers. He retired in 2002. Following his retirement from National he was pleased to work alongside his friends at Terminal Freezers on a 17 month project for Fresh Innovations, Inc. Chip's foremost passion was boating and friends, his 31 ft. Uniflite provided many fondly remembered outings; he was an active member of the Bellingham Wheel & Keel Club, Bellingham, WA. It was the camaraderie of the group that mattered, not the decision of whether or not they chose to leave the dock. He is a member of the Bellingham Elks Lodge #194. He looked forward to getting together with his long-term friends from National; he considered them part of his family. His way with words and his ability to transform inanimate objects and bring a story to life will be missed at each future gathering without him. Chip is survived by his sister, Dixie Browne (Ron); nephew, Todd Loney (Krishna); aunt, Winnifred Martin; cousins, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Memorial & Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon, Monday, August 30, 2010, at The Skagit Valley Casino Resort, 5984 Darrk Lane, Bow, WA 98232. (hotel entrance, Pacific Showroom). Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are in the care of Hulbush Funeral Home, Burlington, WA.
