Charles (David) Prunty son of Charles and Valda (Brady) Prunty was born October 21, 1920, in Sioux Falls, S.D. He grew up on the family farm, north of Hartford. He attended McLeod #77, Hartford High School, and SDSU for agriculture. While in college he was a member of the ROTC. After college, he returned home to farm with his father and brother, Grant. Read More	David Prunty, age 95, lifelong resident of Hartford, S.D. died Saturday, March 5, 2016 at his home surrounded by family. Charles (David) Prunty son of Charles and Valda (Brady) Prunty was born October 21, 1920, in Sioux Falls, S.D. He grew up on the family farm, north of Hartford. He attended McLeod #77, Hartford High School, and SDSU for agriculture. While in college he was a member of the ROTC. After college, he returned home to farm with his father and brother, Grant. On September 6, 1950, he married Dorthea Moter in Sioux Falls. Following their elopement, they took a three-week honeymoon to California. The couple returned to the family farm and recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. Throughout their marriage, they enjoyed traveling to all 50 states and were active members of their church. David was a lifelong member of the Hartford United Methodist Church, a school board member McLeod #77, and Hartford Township Board member. Grateful for having shared is life are his wife, Dorthea, sons Doug (Lori) Prunty, Rapid City, Dan (Cheryl) Prunty, Hartford, daughter Darla (Tom) Boden, Beldenville, Wi, grandchildren Adam (Amber) Prunty, Tim (Stephanie) Boden, Sarah (Scott) Siemonsma) Liz (Dustin) Boyle, great grandchildren, Stella, Jude, Clara, Paxton, Silas, Sayda, Walker, and Penelope. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, brother Grant, and sister-in-law, Mary Vietor. Visitation with family present will be Thursday, March 10th 5-7 p.m. Miller Funeral Home, Hartford. Funeral Services will begin, Friday, March 11th, at 11:00 a.m. Hartford United Methodist Church, Hartford.
