Description	:	Charles Brown Killed There was a shooting scrape at Kansas City,Mo. Saturday night, August 27th. It took place on 20th and Main street in front of the office of the People's Ice and Fuel Co.at 11:30. The difficulty was between P.W. West and Charles Brown, and grew out of jealousy on the part of Brown. West fired five shots at Brown, one of them taking essect in his arm, and two entered his back. Saturday night, August 27th. It took place on 20th and Main street in front of the office of the People's Ice and Fuel Co.at 11:30. The difficulty was between P.W. West and Charles Brown, and grew out of jealousy on the part of Brown. West fired five shots at Brown, one of them taking essect in his arm, and two entered his back. His wife Mrs. Brown Isabella Brown was present and saw the shooting, Brown had gone there with the intention of making trouble. He was at once taken to the hospital and died at 12:10, forth minutes after he had been shot. West and Mrs. Brown were taken to the police station. At the inquest Mrs. Brown was discharged, and West was held on the charge of murder in the first degree. A telegram was received here on Sunday and on Sunday night John Lee went to Kansas City to bring the remains haom. He arrived here with them on Tuesday morning, and they were taken to the home of his mother. Mrs. Elizabeth Brown. The funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at the residence at 3:30. conducted by Rev. F.M. Taylor. and his remains were buried in the Walnut Cemetery. Under the ground in the cemetery sleeps the mortal remains of Charles Brown, once the joy and pride of his mother's heart........... (taken from the Walnut Advisor Sept.3, 1904)
