Dawson, a clerk in the office of the auditor of passenger receipts, died suddenly at his desk on the eleventh floor of the Baltimore and Ohio Central Building about 7:35 o'clock last night. Mr. Dawson had been engaged in the office during the day. In the evening he went to supper at 203 North Canary Street, where he took his meals, and returned to the office for some special work. He complained to Mr. Alfred Whitehorn, who occupied the adjoining desk, that he was suffering from a severe pain in the chest. Mr. Whitehorn went to his assistance but Mr. Dawson sank on the desk and in a few minutes was dead. Special Officer B. F. Haden of the railroad service, was notified and he called in Patrolman Downs of the Central District. Coroner William T. Riley, who arrived and declared, after an examination that Mr. Dawson had died of heart disease. Mr Dawson was born in Dawsonville, Montgomery County, and was about 45 years old. He went to Washington about 20 years ago and entered the service of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company. About eight years ago he was transferred to Baltimore and entered the office of the monitor of passenger receipts. He lived at {?} North Carey Street and took his meals at 203 North Carey Street. He was not married and had no relatives living as far as known. Mr. O. C. S. Elgin, who ate supper with him last night said Mr. Dawson ate a hearty supper and {?} in the best of spirits. He was a delightful fellow. The body was removed to the undertaking establishment of William J. {?} & Son, Camden and {?}, ... {illegible} NOTE: The death date on his marker is incorrect.
