He was born October 22nd, 1939, the oldest of three children of the late Clifford Thomas Burns and Mildred Sexton Burns in the Walland Community of Blount County, Tennessee. He grew up in Walland where he attended Millers Cove Missionary Baptist Church. He graduated from Walland High School in 1957. Read More	Charles Edward Burns, age 81, of Maryville, TN, passed away Friday April 16th, 2021, with his family by his side. He was born October 22nd, 1939, the oldest of three children of the late Clifford Thomas Burns and Mildred Sexton Burns in the Walland Community of Blount County, Tennessee. He grew up in Walland where he attended Millers Cove Missionary Baptist Church. He graduated from Walland High School in 1957. He married Nora Kay Davis on June 9, 1962, and following their marriage they moved to Marietta, Georgia. They made a life together in various locations across the United States, including Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma and California, but resided for the longest time in Winchester, TN. He is survived by one son, Robert Thomas Burns, daughter-in-law Rita Ann Burns, and two grandsons, Nathanael Jebidiah Burns and Gary Daniel Burns. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Nora Kay Burns as well as his older sister Wanda Burns Story, and his younger brother Gary Lynn Burns. The competent and caring staff of the UT Medical Center Palliative Care and Home Hospice team are greatly appreciated by his family. Family and friends will meet Sunday, April 18th, at 4:00 PM Eastern Time for interment in West Millers Cove Cemetery located at 317 West Miller's Cove Road, Walland, TN, TN 37886. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the West Millers Cove Cemetery Association, 931 E Millers Cove Road, Walland, TN 37886.
