Funeral services were held in the Adams funeral home in Ames on Thursday conducted by Rev. Emerson W. Shideler of the Ames Congregational church. On Friday services were conducted from the McAninch chapel in Victor by Rev. Royal J. Montgomery of Grinnell. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery beside his wife and son. Attended Grinnell College Mr. Sowerwine was born Nov, 18, 1868, in Poweshiek county, the son of John and Francis Searle Sowerwine. He spent his childhood on the farm and attended Grinnell college in 1888. He was united in marriage to Florence Ellen Grant on Dec. 2, 1891. To this union three children were born, John Grant, Myrtle Grace and Mary Ellen. Mr. Sowerwine was a member of the Hartwick Congregational church until moving to Victor in 1914 when the membership was transferred to the Victor Congregational church. In 1929 he left Victor and made his home in Ames. He leaves to mourn his passing, two daughters, Mrs. Robert B. Holmes of Ames and Mrs. Don H. Cole of Milwaukee, Wis., five grandchildren, one great grandchild and two half-sisters, Mrs. Lorette Johnson and Mrs. Edith Cunningham. His son died in 1928.
