Clements, a resident of Waterville, entered into rest peacefully at his home Jan. 14, 2003, as the result of a cerebral-vascular incident. He was born on March 30, 1922, in Cashmere, and served as a U. S. Naval Officer during W. W. II. He was a fifty-year member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Charlie was a legend in the cable television industry being one of the original CATV pioneers. Among Charlie's personal friends were Bob Magus, John Malone, Elroy McCaw, Frank Thompson, and he was associated with other cablevision personalities, Ted Turner and Charles Dolan. His reputation and knowledge in the Cable TV industry was second to none. Charlie worked and consulted with TCI Communications of Denver, CO, for 17 years; commuting by air from Waterville to Denver on a weekly basis during that time frame. Charlie and Peggy Wallace were married in 1942 and moved to Waterville following W. W. II in 1946. He owned and operated "Clements TV," a television and appliance business for several years. He was a longtime member of the Wenatchee Country Club and enjoyed golfing with friends and family. His tall physical stature and warm smile will be missed by all who loved him. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Peggy, in 1992. He is survived by sons, Bob Clements and wife, Jean, of Waterville, and Dr. Ron Clements and wife, Lynn, of Spokane; and daughter, Dawn Viebrock and husband, Clayton, of Moses Lake; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Millie Munger, of Wenatchee; and special friend, Cathy Peirolo. A Service of Remembrance will be conducted at 1 p.m., Monday afternoon, Jan. 20, 2003, in the Waterville Federated Church. The Reverend Sandra Tonsing will officiate. If desired, memorials may be made to the Waterville Ambulance Fund in Charlie's name. Arrangements are by the Waterville Funeral Home.
