Description	:	Charles Everett Johns, 87, of Choteau, a retired farmer, died of natural causes Friday April 25, 2008 at Teton Nursing Home in Choteau. Read More	Charles Everett Johns, 87, of Choteau, a retired farmer, died of natural causes Friday April 25, 2008 at Teton Nursing Home in Choteau. Survivors include his wife, Arlyne, of Choteau, and her children, Lonnie (Sharon) McCollom of Choteau, Sharon (Walt) Winters of Elizabeth, Colo., Edward (Marilyn) McCollom of Cedar City, Utah, and Loren McCollom of Billings; his daughter, Julie (Eric) Pallas and their sons, Josh and Ben, all of Missoula; a brother, Roy Johns and his family of Missoula; and seven stepgrandchildren. Charles was born April 13, 1921, in Great Falls, Mont., as a twin; he at 1 ½ pounds and his twin Claude at 2 pounds. Their mother kept them alive using the warming oven on the kitchen stove. Their crib was a cigar box and later a dresser drawer. As children, he and his brothers worked on the family farm near Pendroy. He attended school through the eighth grade and later went and worked in Great Falls and met Florence Heggen. They married Feb. 10, 1945, and moved to a farm west of Pendroy and began their life together. They retired in 1979 and moved into Choteau. He then worked for Ear Mountain Machinery and enjoyed helping other farmers at harvest time. He and his wife were celebrating their 50th anniversary when Florence passed away of a heart attack. Charles then kept busy with friends, playing cards, baking bread and restoring his 1949 Cadillac. In 1996, he adopted his great-niece, Julie Pallas, as his daughter. He married Arlyne McCollom on March 9, 1998, in Choteau. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Florence; and his twin brother, Claude. Burial in Choteau Cemetery.
