The deceased was born June 19, 1871 at West Point, Nebr., and was the son of Charles and Agnes Schueth. He received his education at West Point and in 1888 he accompanied his parents to Humphrey, where they located on a farm. On June 14, 1898 he was united in marriage to Clara Rohatsch of Humphrey with the ceremony taking place in St. Francis church. The young couple located on a farm near Humphrey until 1904. During this year they moved to Boone county where they resided on a farm near Cedar Rapids. Here they remained until two years ago when they retired from farm life to make their home in Cedar Rapids. Although Mr. Schueth was always highly interested in civic improvements, his chief interest was his home and family. He was an active member of the Catholic church leading a quiet and Christian life. For ten years he had been afflicted with arthritis which compelled him to use crutches. Two months ago he developed a cardiac condition which rendered him bedfast and from which he did not recover. He was given constant care by his wife and children, all of whom were home during his illness. He is survived by his wife Clara, and seven children: Victor of Hastings; Evelyn Redler of Albion; Clara Otredosky of Cedar Bluffs; Stella Hill of Minneapolis, Minn.; Lucille Curren of Madisonville, Ky.; Marcella Toohey of Hastings; and Elinor who has remained with her parents. Ten grandchildren, one brother and four sisters also mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren, three brothers and one sister."
