Read More	(Billings Gazette) Charles 'Chuck' Francis Romee, 93, passed away Friday, July 20, 2018 surrounded by love. Chuck was born on Feb. 10, 1925, in Laurel. He was the son of Jack and Katherine (Sturtz) Romee. He attended school in Laurel, graduating from Laurel High School in 1943. Faith was a big part of his life; he served as an altar boy until his senior year of high school and continued to confidently recite prayers in Latin throughout his life. He was a member of St. Pius X Parish in Billings. Chuck entered the U.S. Army on June 9, 1943, training at Ft Sill, Oklahoma, as well as in Louisiana, Texas and Ohio. He proudly served as a Technician Fourth Grade in the Pacific Theater during World War II in both Hawaii and Okinawa, until March 1946. He met the love of his life Mavis Yonce, while working at Mulvaney’s Motor Company. He married Mavis on June 12, 1948. They lived in Miles City until January 1960 when they moved to Billings. Mavis preceded him in death on Friday, March 30, 2018. She was his devoted caregiver for many years. Throughout his career, Chuck served in various roles at Valley Motor Supply, Valley Welders Supply and Motor Parts Warehouse which later became Carquest Auto Parts. He retired from Carquest as President. Chuck and Mavis enjoyed traveling to many countries around the world. They spent several winters in either Arizona or Hawaii and summers at Seeley Lake. Chuck enjoyed praising family and friends who cooked a good meal with a 'you should open a restaurant' as a sign of his love and appreciation. He was also known to treat the family to lunch by enjoying the free samples at Costco. He loved making pancakes for his family, sneaking his grandchildren way too many peanuts and working on his tan while fishing. Chuck was a fan of the Colorado Rockies, they shared the same initials, as well as the Phoenix Suns and Denver Broncos. He was a talented self-taught wood maker who left behind handmade furniture and other décor for his family to forever cherish. Chuck was a Third Degree Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his and Mavis’ four children: Nancy Hollar (Mike) of Gilbert, AZ; Marsha Sampson (Tim) of Billings; Charlene Huffield (Mitch) of Lewistown and Randy Romee of Lake Jackson, TX; and sister Margret Frazer of Billings. He had twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to being preceded in death by his wife, Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Katherine Bartholf and Louise Hodges.
