He was born on March 12, 1915, to Frank and Katie (Uhrich) Krause at Waterville. His mother died when Chuck was three years old, so he was raised by his grandparents, George and Anna Margaret Uhrich, who owned and operated a wheat ranch in the Waterville area. Chuck spoke German until he entered school and while attending school, he participated in track and football and graduated from Waterville High School in 1933. Working was not new to Chuck. When he was eight years of age, he had chores around the wheat ranch and tended the 18-20 Clydesdale horses the ranch had for working the wheat fields. Following high school he attended college in Cheney, and was employed by Governor Martin at the wheat storage warehouses in the Cheney area. He also attended Western Washington College in Bellingham for two years and night school at the University of Washington. In 1940, he was employed by Standard Oil Company and worked in Alaska from 1940 until 1943, when he joined the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. Following his honorable discharge on November 15, 1945, he returned to Seattle, and Chevron (formerly Standard Oil Company). On July 5, 1966, he married Peggy McIntosh at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and they resided in the Magnolia area of Seattle. They spent 17 years visiting Canada, Alaska and the United States including Hawaii. In 1976, they moved to Leavenworth to make their home. Peggy passed away in 1983, and Chuck married Mary Lou Jamison, who was a long time friend of Chuck and Peggy's. They were married on August 30, 1984, in Seattle and they made their home in Leavenworth. He was a member of the Leavenworth Golf Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and softball. He also loved to travel by Airstream trailer through Western Canada, Western U.S. and Alaska. They established many wonderful friendships with their trips. Chuck is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Krause of the family home. Stepson and his wife, Frank and Carole Boyko of Puyallup. Two granddaughters, Jennifer (Kevin) Thompson and Heather Boyko of the Seattle-Kent area. Two ¸ sisters, Francis Guilt of Sultan and Ellen Barnes of Montana. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, and an infant sister and one sister. A Funeral Service of Commemoration to Celebrate the Life of Charles (Chuck) F. Krause will be conducted at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning, July 20, 2004, in the Ward's Funeral Chapel. Concluding service and interment will follow in the Mt. View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Cascade Medical Center Foundation in Leavenworth or the Central Washington Hospital Hospice Fund. Visitation will be Monday, July 19, 2004, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ward's Funeral Chapel. Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
