Description	:	Ex - Sheriff of Floyd County, was born in Bedford County, Virginia, February 9, 1809, his father being Jacob Frederick, a native of Pennsylvania. He passed away at his residence at Galena August 31, 1882, aged 73 years and 7 months. Charles Frederick emigrated to the west with his father's family in 1819, first settling in Jefferson County, Kentucky, but remained in that county but a short time, taking up his residence in Floyd County, Indiana, in 1820, and residing in this county ever since, a period of sixty-two years. Read More	Ex - Sheriff of Floyd County, was born in Bedford County, Virginia, February 9, 1809, his father being Jacob Frederick, a native of Pennsylvania. He passed away at his residence at Galena August 31, 1882, aged 73 years and 7 months. Charles Frederick emigrated to the west with his father's family in 1819, first settling in Jefferson County, Kentucky, but remained in that county but a short time, taking up his residence in Floyd County, Indiana, in 1820, and residing in this county ever since, a period of sixty-two years. Deceased was a good citizen, discharging his duties to his fellow citizens and his family in most conscientious manner. He always stood high in the good will of the people, and when he asked their suffrages was chosen to the responsible office of Sheriff of the county. As an officer he performed his duty faithfully and acceptably. His last illness was of long duration and of a most painful character. But he bore his sufferings with true christian fortitude. He was a member of the Christian Church, and in this relation was always faithful to his obligations. He was also a member of the order of Odd Fellows, and the funeral will be under the auspicies of his Lodge. In his death Floyd County has lost a most excellent citizen, and his family an indulgent, affectionate husband and father. He leaves a wife and several children, among the latter Messrs. Lafayette and Clarence Frederick, of this city. The time of the funeral is announced elsewhere in todays Ledger. By special requst of the late Charles Frederick, Judge D. W. Lafollette will perform the funeral service for the Odd Fellows at his funeral at Galena at 2:00 on Sunday afternoon next. All the New Albany Odd Fellows are invited to attend the funeral. They will leave the hall of the order in this city promptly at 12:00.
