Description	:	Charles Frederick (Freddie) Bolinger, 84, of California, passed away March 2, 2015, at the California Care Center. He was born July 20, 1930, on the family farm southeast of California, a son of Ward E. and Velma Shores Bolinger. He was the second of seven children. He graduated from California High School and immediately purchased his first of many tracts of land where he lived and farmed. Read More	Charles Frederick (Freddie) Bolinger, 84, of California, passed away March 2, 2015, at the California Care Center. He was born July 20, 1930, on the family farm southeast of California, a son of Ward E. and Velma Shores Bolinger. He was the second of seven children. He graduated from California High School and immediately purchased his first of many tracts of land where he lived and farmed. Freddie married Dorothy (Dot) Louise Vivion on May 29, 1949, at Flag Spring Baptist Church. She preceded him in death on February 17, 2015. He was a lifelong farmer, raising row crops and livestock of all kinds. He was talented with his hands and remodeled almost all of his and Dorothy's homes. He also worked on and maintained most of his farm equipment. Freddie loved to sing and was blessed with this talent. Church was an important part of his life and he was the song leader for many years. He also passed on to his daughters a love for singing. They provided entertainment for numerous church services and local gatherings and Freddie beamed with pride on each occasion. He also loved the outdoors and nature was a source of joy and a closeness to God. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved family gatherings, especially giving his six sons-in-law a hard time. Freddie and Dorothy enjoyed traveling with family and friends. He entertained them with his quick wit and never met a stranger. He had a knack of getting to know something about everyone he met. Freddie is survived by six daughters, 15 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Donald, and one grandson, Robbie Knipp. Taken from obituary provided online by the Phillips Funeral Home.
