Read More	Progress Review, La Porte City, Iowa Wednesday, October 21, 1954, Page 1 Death Summons Charles Wilson Here Sunday Charles Wilson, 87, former La Porte City business man and long time resident of La Porte City and community succumbed to death at his home here at 11:15 p.m. Sunday. Death was due to kidney infection and complications and following two months of illness in Schoitz Memorial hospital and two month’s confinement to bed at home. Charles Frederick Wilson was born in Clinton county, Iowa Jan. 7, 1867 to Truman and Anna Atwood Wilson and moved to Shellsburg with his parents at the age of 10 years. Soon after the family moved to a farm southeast of La Porte City, where he grew to manhood, and farmed for several years. In Business Here He operated the Wilson Implement Co. and coal business in La Porte City for 20 years and later was employed by the former Farmers Cooperative Elevator Co. before retiring to farming for 16 years. In 1940 he retired and built a new home at 203 Chestnut st. where he resided until his death. On Feb. 27, 1909 he was married to Dora H. Frank of southeast of La Porte City, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Frank Wilson and one daughter, Mrs. Robert Studebaker, La Porte City, three grandchildren, Richard Wilson and Ronald Wilson, Clear Lake and Leanne Wilson, La Porte City and one brother, John Wilson, St. Petersburg. Fla. Preceding him in death were a son, Woodrow Wilson who died in 1949, a son who died in infancy, 3 brothers and two sisters. Services Wednesday Funeral services were held in the Evangelical United Brethren church at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon with the church pastor, Rev. Z.J. Hougham, officiating. Cliff Burr accompanied by Mrs. Burr sang “Face to Face” and “In the Sweet By and By.” Serving as pallbearers were John Wright, Cedar Falls, Clifford Wilson, Mr. Auburn, Arthur Wilson and Harold Kruger, Waterloo, and Melvin Sheffler, La Porte City. Interment was made in the family lot in West View cemetery.
