Read More	Source: Victor Record, 8/10/1922 OBITUARY - CHARLES GRABIN Charles Grabin was born in Germany, September 8, 1846, and died at Victor, August 2, aged 75 years, 10 months and 25 days. As a boy of 9 years he came to Iowa and went to farming near Iowa City, Iowa, which was as the railroad then ran. On September 27, 1871, at Iowa City, he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah E. Barnes of Johnson county, Iowa. To this union were born 4 girls and 2 boys. Thirty-eight years ago Mr. and Mrs. Grabin moved on a farm 7 miles south of Victor, where they made their home until they came to town ten years ago. Three and a half years ago, Mr. Grabin was striken with an affliction which increasingly grew more painful till id resulted in his death. Mr. Grabin was preceded in death by Ethel, Elizabeth, Blanche and a baby daughter. He is survived by his widow, two sons, Will and Archie, a grandson William Negley of Silvis, IL., and other relatives. Mr. Grabin was tenderly cared for in his sickness and all that could be done was done lovingly by the devoted son Will who has most faithfully lived out the commandment "Honor they Father and thy Mother." Charles Grabin was a loyal friend and desirable neighbor. He has well served his day and generation, having spent a useful life, and made the world a better place. Mr. Grabin was fond of his home, aside from farm work his hobbies were gardening and fishing. The whole community in a sense felt the pain of his affliction, and all who knew him were ennobled by the way his suffering was met. The funeral was on Saturday, August 5 at 2 p.m. from the Congregational church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Jos. Snowden, assisted by Rev. P. H. Hawk. Interment was made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
