Description	:	Charles Drennen, of Yorktown, Iowa, entered into peace Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Goldenrod Manor, Clarinda, Iowa, at the age of 80 years 8 months 6 days. Charles Guston Drennen was born October 3, 1931, in Taylor County, Iowa to Harvey D. Drennen and Agnes Marie (Laub) Drennen. Charles and his family lived several places around Blockton and Sharpsburg, Iowa and Nodaway County, Missouri. He attended Burlington Junction High School. Charles Guston Drennen was born October 3, 1931, in Taylor County, Iowa to Harvey D. Drennen and Agnes Marie (Laub) Drennen. Charles and his family lived several places around Blockton and Sharpsburg, Iowa and Nodaway County, Missouri. He attended Burlington Junction High School. Charles' mother died when he was fourteen and he and his siblings were a very close family. Charles was united in marriage June 4, 1948, in Elmo, Missouri to Joyce Merriett. They were blessed with three daughters, Patricia, Peggy and Pamela. Early in his working career Charles worked for Roberts Dairy and Iowa Power and Light Company. He then owned and operated Drennen's Garage and Used Cars in Yorktown, Iowa. He enjoyed being a mechanic and kept the cars, tractors, trucks of the community running. Charles was a very caring person, always ready to help someone. In later years, he drove hot shot trips for Thummel Trucking. Charles served the community of Yorktown faithfully for many years as Mayor, council member and Volunteer Fire Department member. Charles enjoyed riding horses, and rode in many parades he also enjoyed attending the 4-H horse shows of his grandchildren. He loved kids and was adopted grandfather to the kids of Yorktown. He enjoyed taking care of his children and grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roy Drennen and Donald Drennen; sister, Betty Pfeifer. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joyce Drennen of Yorktown, Iowa; daughters, Pat Huseman and husband Keith of Coin, Iowa, Peg Barbee and husband Tom of Lincoln, Nebraska, Pam Lindholm and husband Russell of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Jenny Huseman, Brian Huseman, Jill Mitchell, Lauren Barbee, Madison Barbee, Kristin Drennen, Abby Meadows; great grandchildren, Reyna Huseman, Jordan Flores; brothers, Sam Drennen of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Bobbie Drennen of Lenox, Iowa; sister, Helen Ward and husband Paul of Maryville, Missouri; nieces; nephews and many friends. Charles will be greatly missed by his family and many friends; his memory will live on in their hearts. May God grant comfort and peace to those who mourn his passing.
